I'm available to speak at your school or organization about journalism, transgender issues, and media production including audio and radio production and storytelling. Through my work with Press On, I offer half- and full-day workshops on Strategies for Transforming Journalism with Mia Henry of Freedom Lifted—click here for more information or to request an anti-oppression workshop for your group or newsroom. My training work combines many years of experience as a facilitator in social justice organizations, a community media teacher, and a writer and editor, and I’m passionate about the intersection between popular education and media production.
I’ll be speaking about my book and podcast in the following cities in 2019: Durham, Chicago, New York, and L.A. In 2020, I’ll be in Ann Arbor, Detroit, Birmingham, Atlanta, and Charlottesville. Sign up for the newsletter below to receive tour updates.
If you’re interested in a talk or training, please email ravenjournalist at gmail for fees and scheduling, and be sure to sign up for my newsletter so you can find out when I’m coming to your neighborhood!
In 2017, I spoke at Georgetown University, Wake Forest University, the LGBT Journalists' Convening in Orlando, Kalamazoo College, Impact Hub NYC, European Lab in Lyon France, UCLA's Hammer Museum, and the Allied Media Conference. After I was fired from my job at Marketplace for speaking out about journalistic neutrality as the wrong response to white supremacist and totalitarian trends, I did a lot of media appearances on the topic. Here are some examples of me talking:

On the Media: "Objectivity, what is it good for?" (interview with Bob Garfield)

Washington Post: “How one reporter’s rejection of objectivity got him fired”
Fusion: “Impartiality or diversity. Pick one.”

Andrew Ramsammy on Medium: “If we’re going to talk about it, let’s use the right frame”
